Are you fed up with hearing doom and gloom about air travel? We are, and we all know how bad the Met office are at being precise with their weather, so we're wondering how they are able to be so precise with their predictions about where the ash cloud will go and who it will affect.
Have you been affected by air travel this year? There's nothing worse than being stuck at an airport watching your holiday trickle away before you, we hope you haven't experienced this!
The alternative is to holiday in this Country if you can stand the car journey, but that's probably much less hassle and a lot quicker than the 3 hour checkin, the flight, the journey the other end - and then the delays!
The UK has a lot to offer, and with the great weather we're having at the moment, it's definately worth looking into Cornwall or even Northumberland. Everyone I know who's been to Northumberland raves about it - its a gem with a fantastic coastline. Have you been yet?

Is social networking working for you?
Welcome to the Bed and Breakfast Guide blog. Do you use Facebook or Twitter? Or do you use other social networking sites?
If you run a B&B, Guest House or Hotel then you may just be starting out on the social networking and may have just started your own Twitter page - we are interested to know how many of you are using either or both Facebook and Twitter, and tell us about your experiences good and bad.
Did you follow #duncansdreams or #followfriday and do you understand how it works?
Hopefully your comments can help others to understand how best to use these new marketing tools.
Bed and Breakfasts Guide feel that these are really helping build a real sense of community within the family of 'B&B' owners (and by B&B we mean to include guest houses and hotels - you all offer bed and breakfast)
This is a new blog, so please help us to build it and become a real part of helping each other.
You can also follow us at:
Facebook at http://www.Facebook.com/BedandBreakfastsGuide
Twitter at http:/www.twitter.com/BandBGuide

Bed and Breakfasts Guide - Why advertise your B&B with us?
Once upon a time, we all used to think it was enough to just have a website. Now we know the important thing is to be found by the highest number of people using the most popular search phrases.
And that's where we come in, because we are found quickly and easily by thousands of people every day, all of whom use the main search engines to find B&Bs Guest Houses or Hotel accommodation Online. We monitor the most popular search phrases they use , and ensure that the Bed and Breakfasts Guide is found by the highest number of people possible.
The Internet is like a library, and if you know the name of the book (or website) you want that's fine, you can enter the name in Google & go straight to it. However the majority of people just search for the subject (in August 70,000 people searched under the generic phrase "bed and breakfasts"), and then use the Bed and Breakfasts Guide to refine their search under Town/City, postcode, or one of our many internal search engines, to locate where they want to stay.
Because 87% of our search engine referrals are from Google, we know that customers are finding us - and our advertisers - easily. Let's face it, if people around the World don't know your exact website address - how will they find you if you're not at the top of the search engines?
Unlike many of the listing sites you may come across, we give you unlimited text to describe your B&B, Hotel or Guest House, space for 4 full colour photo's, full contact details including address, telephone, fax, and email, and also a link directly to your own website if you have one.
If you don't have a website you can easily use your Bed and Breakfasts Guide display as your website, or we can actually make you a website in 48 hours for a very low cost!
It's a fact that people tire of boring looking websites within seconds of looking at them, and some listing sites are more like telephone directory's, and not very user friendly. We make it easy for customers to find what they want easily, and to leave them with a feeling of satisfaction that the Guide has delivered what they want.
We also welcome any suggestions you may have to improve the Guide.Does it work? Yes! We feel it is important for you to monitor the number of people that are interested in your accommodation, as this gives you an idea of the success of the Internet. If you have a website, you can ask your hosting Company to supply you with all the 'referrals' that come from other websites each month. This will show you where your Online advertising is working best for you.
We monitor any booking enquiries that are sent through the Bed and Breakfasts Guide (if you have the 'Booking Enquiry' button on your display), however most people still prefer to telephone after seeing you Online, so we would suggest asking where customers found you. Unlike some sites, we don't charge any commission for bookings made through the Bed and Breakfasts Guide, as we want you to make maximum profit from advertising with us.
We pride ourselves on being an Online Guide and not just a listing site, and this is down to the quality of the displays. Everyone benefits from our well designed and easy to read magazine style layout, which because of it's Corporate feel is attractive to potential Customers who visit the Bed and Breakfasts Guide, and encourages them to stay and browse.
You keep your display for a whole year, and have 24/7 access to update it via your own login & password. From there you can change photo's, text, or contact details at your leisure. Alternatively we can do this for you if you prefer.
It's your Guide and we want you to get the most out of what the Guide can do for you, and have the best display possible. I know it's obvious, but a lack of photo's, and no description or facilities will clearly not achieve the same results as a well produced display. Our 'Special Offers' section is very popular, and is sent out on an email flyer at the start of each month to people who have requested to receive special offers, this is targetted marketing that we provide for no extra cost to yourself.
How much would you expect to pay for all this?Prices start from as little as £45 (plus vat) as a special online offer price. This gives you 24/7 exposure to millions of potential customers Worldwide for a full 12 months! In many cases just 1 booking that comes as a result of the Bed and Breakfasts Guide will have paid for your display, leaving you in profit for the rest of the year!
Our dedicated Customer Service team will be happy to take your call on 08700 434 810 in normal office hours, or leave a message & we will call you back. Alternatively drop us an email to info@bedandbreakfastsguide.com
